Nick Vagenas

Nick Vagenas is one of two fabulous trombonists in the Bublé band. His solo on one of my favourite concert pieces, "Sway", is simply stunning and he has recently widened his onstage repertoire to include a tantalising rendition of "Come Fly With Me" which, by all accounts, could give Michael's version a serious run for his money ...
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Nick began playing the trombone when he was aged twelve. He received a scholarship to complete a Bachelor's Degree at the Berklee College of Music and then went on to complete a Master of Music Degree in Jazz Performance at the Manhattan School of Music.
In 2001, Nick was chosen by Terence Blanchard, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, to attend the prestigious Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz on a two-year scholarship, where he studied under Terence Blanchard, Dave Holland, John Nash, Lewis Nash, John Scofield and Mark Turner.
He has played in The Thelonious Monk Institute Ensemble (MIE) performing at a number of jazz festivals including the Umbria Jazz Festival, St Lucia Jazz Festival, the Cleveland Jazz Festival and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival.
Nick leads his own Trio and Quintet and has made a couple of albums with fellow Berklee graduate, Patrick Cornelius, the most recent being "Lucid Dream" released in April, 2006.
Nick Vagenas
is currently touring with Michael Bublé.
